Students of YBIS are guided in the path to understand and conserve nature. Students are involved in projects and activities in lieu with N Park’s attempt to maintain Singapore as a garden city. The butterfly garden at our school serves as evidence to our students love for nature.

YBIS is in close association with neighbouring Jurong Secondary School and Yishun Town Secondary School. Celebration of Chinese New year, Friendship day, Racial harmony day together has strengthened our mutual relationship. YBIS takes all effort to build up an understanding with the students of our buddy schools, share knowledge and rejoice in harmony. Mutual visits at frequent intervals have helped students to grow and live in harmony.

Yuvabharathi International School supported by Taman Jurong Zone B RC will be curating ‘关爱大众 - The Waves: 22 Stories of Taman Jurong’. Senior Residents from 22 Families will share their cherishable moments and jubilations of National Day celebrations over the years with our students to promulgate ‘Heart Work’ in the spirit of SG Cares.

Mr. Sripalan Chandra Mohan Executive Director PROFILE

Sripalan Chandra Mohan an Engineer by profession has an extensive background and experience in Strategic Planning, International Business Relations, Finance, and Marketing. From an entrepreneur in computer hardware industry in 1980s, he diversified his business interests, focusing on the non-banking financial sector. Since the turn of the century his interests and vision have gradually shifted towards opportunities that promote social and environmental sustainability.

ACADEMIC PROFILE

Mr. Chandra is the Executive Director at YBIS and his commitment towards providing high-quality and affordable education has been the driving force over the last few years. He has been a constant source of inspiration rendering his knowledge and expertise in the field of teaching and the student community. Being an ardent lover of children, he has introduced unique programmes to cater to needs of slow and gifted learners. His passion for sports has also found room in a variety of free sports training that has been arranged for the children to unleash their hidden potentials. This has taken YBIS to new horizons of excellence. He is the Chairman of the Academic Board and the Examination Board.

Mr. Chandramohan Naveen Director PROFILE

Mr. Naveen Chandramohan is an entrepreneur with experience building innovation-centric biotech and tech ventures, that disrupt the status quo. At YBIS, Mr. Naveen combines his multi-disciplinary experience with his passion to leverage cutting-edge technologies to improve the learning experience and provides strategic guidance.

ACADEMIC PROFILE

Previously, Mr. Naveen worked for the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab (LBNL) at the US Dept of Energy Joint Genome Institute, in Bay Area, USA. Mr. Naveen received an MS in Computational Biology from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA.

Dr. Animesh Shukla Director PROFILE

Dr. Animesh Shukla is an experienced biotechnology researcher with a focus on oncology and neurodegenerative diseases. His stints include various private and public research institutions, including a Post-Doctoral stint at NIH (National Institute of Health, USA) and National Cancer Institute (NCI). Dr. Shulka's drive and commitment to contribute and add perspective to school education is invaluable.

Dr. Shukla holds a Ph.D. in Cell and Developmental Biology from Indiana University Bloomington, USA. He is an academician whose vast experience in the field of Science and Business Management adds value to the organization.

Ms. Latha Mohankumar Director and Admin Head PROFILE

Director and Administration Head of YBIS, Ms. Latha Mohankumar is a leader with a great vision who nurtures the young minds with her personal care, concern and love. A post-graduate in  Commerce, with a Diploma in Montessori Method of Teaching with distinction from (MMI) and an  International Diploma in Montessori Education, London and a Diploma of Educational Studies- Early Years Enrichment Education.UK, Ms. Latha, ingeniously designed and developed an integrated, inhouse Preschool curriculum based on the principles of inquiry-based pedagogy and child-centric learning environment. Her vision is to provide the learning community with an environment where the students are equipped to think and act critically, to develop confidence, to respect nature, to be compassionate and creative, to be aware of cultural heritage and traditional values, and to be appreciative of diversity and internationalism. 

Ms. Latha is a leader with a passion for innovation, creativity, and results. As the chief administrator, she plays a key role in the financial and non-financial administration system of YBIS. She is at the forefront of the HR, Finance, and Academic Departments of YBIS  and ensures the smooth management of the day to day financial administration, payroll activities, statutory accounting and reporting functions, and well-being of the staff and students. 

As a  member of the Academic Board, Ms. Latha supervises all school personnel, in developing policies, programmes, and the curricular and co-curricular activities. She is dedicated to  motivate and inspire the staff and students and takes utmost care to manage all the events related to school, keeping quality as the ultimate value. She always lends her ears to the stakeholders and provides the best solution seeing every aspect of the situation.

The EduTrust Certification Scheme (EduTrust) is a quality assurance scheme administered by SSG for Private Education Institutions (PEIs) in Singapore. This award is given to  private schools that are able to consistently maintain a high standard of quality in the overall provision of education services and make continual improvements that lead to positive student outcomes. Only those PEIs which are EduTrust-certified can enrol international students who require Student Passes from the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

Student Contract

Prospective students should therefore understand and agree to the terms and conditions stated in the contract before signing it. The Student Contract needs to be signed before the course fee is paid.

Fee Protection Scheme (FPS)
 

In compliance with the requirements of the SSG, YBIS is required to purchase insurance on behalf of its students to protect student fees. Fee Protection Scheme (FPS) is a mandatory regulatory requirement.

Protected Fees
 

Course Fees stipulated in Schedule B in Standard PEI-Student Contract of YBIS will be protected under FPS Group Insurance. It refer to all monies paid by the Students to be enrolled in a private education institution, excluding the course application/registration fee, miscellaneous fees (ad-hoc, non-compulsory and non-standard fee paid only when necessary or where applicable).

YBIS will declare the fee collection details of the preceding month to the Insurance Company on or before the 11th of the following month.

Insured Events
 
  • Loss of ‘Course Fees’ by Insured Student due to insolvency or Regulatory Closure of PEI.
  • Failure of PEI to pay Sum Awarded by Singapore Courts to the Insured Student
  • Death by Accident or Total Permanent Disability by Accident of Insured Student
Insurance Claims
 

All claims shall be made on the Insurance Provider’s prescribed forms and submitted to the Insurance Provider as soon as reasonably possible, together with all supporting documents including the original copy of the receipt issued by YBIS and all other required information

How to know if your child is insured?
To check whether your ward(s) is / are protected under the Fee Protection Scheme, you can click here. You will require the student’s NRIC or FIN number to check the required details.

Medical Insurance
 

In compliance with the EduTrust guidelines set by SSG, YBIS has a medical insurance scheme in place for all students. The medical insurance provided is as per the requirements under EduTrust.

What is Covered?
  • It covers hospitalisation and day surgery.
  • It doesn’t cover any pre-existing illness.
  • It doesn’t cover outpatient treatments, unless they are:
    • For follow up treatment related to a hospitalisation/day surgery and incurred within 90 days prior to or after the hospitalisation or day surgery;
    • For emergency outpatient treatments due to accidents within 24 hours of the accident; GP (General Practitioner) bills are not claimable.
Scope of Coverage
 
  • B2 ward entitlement in Government Restructured Hospitals.
  • Ability to upgrade to higher wards or private hospitals subject to pro-rated factors.
  • Annual Limit of $20,000 per student on “As Charged” basis.
Payment of the Claim Amount
 

The insurance company (i.e. NTUC Income Insurance in this case) will pay on a reimbursement basis. The student will have to pay the hospital first and submit all original hospital bills for reimbursement. The student will then be refunded for the eligible claim amount, by cheque or via bank transfer.

How to Make Claims?
 

All claims have to be made on prescribed forms and submitted to NTUC Income Insurance through YBIS, within one month or as soon as reasonably possible, together with all the original copies of final medical bills.
The following documents are needed to make a claim:
· Combined Claim Form with Medical Certification of Treatment

  • Final hospital/medical bills & receipts
  • Medical reports
  • Hospital discharge summary
  • Referral Letters, if available
